Ardingly College are seeking to appoint an experienced and qualified Head of Grounds to manage and develop the Colleges 230 acres of outstanding grounds. They will lead a team of eight in maintaining and enhancing the already high standard of extensive sports, recreational and horticultural areas of this beautiful campus.
The successful candidate will have experience of grounds maintenance and technical knowledge of different sports surfaces (make-up, preparation and drainage), horticultural diversity and selection and maintenance of machinery and equipment. Previous management experience, including supervision, training and development of a small team is essential. Experience in smalls grounds related project management would also be ideal.
The post holder will plan, organise and supervise the management and general maintenance of the outdoor sport surfaces, facilities and all other grounds facilities within the campus. There are many opportunities for professional development and training available for the successful candidate, whom will also be responsible for training and developing the Grounds team.
This role is full time, working 42.5 hours per week, usually Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.30pm, for 52 weeks per year. Saturday mornings, 7.30am to 12.00noon, are worked on a 3/4-week rota basis, although flexibility is required for weekend and other out of normal hours working as the need for Sport and College events dictate.
The salary is competitive, dependent on experience.
