Applications are invited for the above post at our outstanding, stable, over-subscribed and ambitious school.   As Head of History (Deputy Faculty Leader - Humanities), you will join our Humanities Faculty (Nightingale College) and take middle leadership responsibility for standards in History.

We seek to appoint a dynamic and inspirational practitioner to lead our History Faculty.  The right candidate will be a consistently very good to outstanding teacher with strong leadership skills who achieves excellent results for progress and attainment with their classes at both KS3 and KS4 in History.

We are determined that the successful candidate will have:

o A passion for teaching History

o Well-honed skills, in securing outstanding enjoyment, progress and attainment with critical groups at KS3 and KS4

o Reliable evidence of very good to outstanding teaching and results

o Excellent inter-personal skills with students, staff and parents

o Expertise in ensuring excellent attitudes and conduct from students

o A true love of History and its potential

Mossley Hollins High School is currently in the process of converting to an Academy, which is proposed to take place in the near future.  This role will be affected by the transfer, meaning that the successful applicant will transfer to the Academy, along with all other school staff.  The conversion to an Academy will be undertaken in accordance with the DfE and legal requirements.

Located in the town of Mossley, Greater Manchester, Mossley Hollins High School is a co-educational secondary school with around 800 pupils aged 11-16. This makes it smaller than the average school of its type, with an economically diverse student intake. Founded in the 1960s, the school has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation over the years, with the most recent buildings being opened in 2011.The school works closely with a number of other institutions in the local area, to provide better outcome for its pupils, although Mossley Hollins is a community school rather than an academy.
