HEAD OF HISTORY (TLR 2c £6515) 

We seek to appoint a dedicated and inspirational Head of History.  

The role focus will be on be on developing pedagogy and the curriculum in order to make teaching and learning exciting, relevant and highly effective for our learners, in order to ensure progress in all Key Stages.   

The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher of history who is highly effective and can lead and motivate teams. You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills in order to manage change and support the day to day running of a very busy department. 

The school is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure via the Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS).

Our School

The Queen Katherine School is situated on the edge of the stunning Lake District; we are an 11-18 Academy with approximately 1000 students. The school was rated Good by Ofsted in March 2022. Our results reflect the school’s incredible success: top 7% in the country for A level (grades A-B) and top 25% for Progress 8 at GCSE. Our teaching culture is based upon ‘excellence beyond compliance’. We invest heavily in high-quality CPD. We practise an annual Teaching and Learning focus for all colleagues in combination with separate departmental CPD foci led by Subject Leaders.
