Job overview

An oversubscribed and outstanding school with an exceptional reputation, set on a leafy parkland campus, is looking to appoint a Head of the Senior Girls Boarding House, Roding House. Currently there are 77 students who reside in Roding House.

The Head of House is responsible for the leadership and organisation of the House and for the personal development, welfare and academic support of all boarders in the House subject to the general direction of the Director of Boarding. For this post there is a requirement to be resident in House and to work approximately one weekend out of every three. As this is a residential role, full time accommodation will be provided free of charge and in lieu of being in residence overnight. There is also the possibility of undertaking other duties within the College alongside this role (for a suitable candidate), if the successful applicant is a teacher he/she will receive a reduction of a normal teaching timetable.

Hockerill Anglo-European College has been consistently ranked in the top tier of state comprehensive league tables based on its IB Diploma and GCSE results. Included in the Sunday Times 2022 Good Schools Guide of top UK schools, it is the most oversubscribed school in Hertfordshire.

The College is situated in Bishop’s Stortford within the beautiful landscaped grounds of a former teacher training college and is within 30 minutes of both London and Cambridge, with Stansted Airport just 10 minutes away. We have a roll of some 900 students, both day and boarding, including a Sixth Form of 250 students.

Please apply via Quick Apply.

Ofsted

"Students' personal development is outstanding. All students, including boarders, enjoy school and this is reflected in their exemplary behaviour, their mature and willing shouldering of responsibilities and in the harmonious relationships between students and between staff and students. The recent enhancement of the specialist music provision together with the resulting wider range of available activities has added significantly to students' enthusiasm for school. A real strength of the school is the way students are involved in decision-making through many opportunities such as the school council".
