Al Shohub Private School was founded in 1999, by Her Highness Sheikha Shaikha bint Saif Al Nahyan, in order to ensure the availability of outstanding girls’ education in Abu Dhabi.

At Al Shohub we provide students with the Ministry of Education Arabic Language, Social Studies and Islamic Studies curriculum for native Arabic speakers, in conjunction with the English National Curriculum, tailored for the UAE.

The Role

We are looking for a Head of Inclusion to join our team at Al Shohub Private School, Abu Dhabi from January 2022 (or earlier). 

The successful candidate will have a true interest in all children and a passion for enabling and empowering them to learn and achieve. Candidates must have experience of leading a successful SEN provision within a National Curriculum School environment, however, we will also consider those with 2ic responsibility and looking for that next step in their career. Al Shohub staff enjoy an outstanding school environment in which to deliver a dynamic and creative curriculum to motivated students. 

You will be responsible for providing strategic direction and development of provision for SEN students, monitoring the impact of teaching and learning activities on the progress made by SEN students, supporting the development of high achieving classrooms which support and foster the achievement of all pupils, leading in maintaining/establishing the whole school’s culture and ethos and providing strategies to support SEN students to meet our high expectations in the area of behavior for learning as well as contributing to the effective working of the school. 

The Requirements 

  • FEMALE APPLICANTS ONLY 
  • The ability to determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school 
  • Responsibility for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual students with SEN or a disability 
  • The ability to provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff and parents
  • Oversee the teaching and support of our SEND students across the school
  • Lead the Inclusion and ELL teams
  • Monitor and report SEND students progress
  • Liaise with all stakeholders including, parents, external therapists and external providers
  • Manage the inclusion register and associated documents to ensure accuracy and transparency
  • Work with admissions team and senior leaders to ensure all prospective students are accurately assessed prior to entry
  • Experience working within (leading) a successful SEN team
  • Experience implementing a new pathway for students with additional need, working 2 or more years below age, is desirable
  • Experience of using a variety of assessment tools to identify students’ needs
  • Bachelor Degree in Special Education Needs or related postgraduate qualification 
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in teaching Special Education Needs, at least three of which have been teaching UAE Nationals and/or GCC nationals and government university graduates

Al Shohub Private School was founded in 1999 by Her Highness Sheikha Shaikha Bint Saif Al Nahyan to provide exceptional education in Abu Dhabi.

We are located in the heart of Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi in a purpose-built educational facility. Al Shohub is a British curriculum through school offering places from FS to Year 13 with co-ed provision from FS to Year 6 and an all-girls environment in secondary.
