We are seeking a suitably qualified Head of Learning and Teaching (Tier 4) to join our dynamic and collaborative team. This significant curriculum leadership role sits within a team that includes the Assistant Principal Learning and Development and the Assistant Principal Curriculum Administration in providing leadership and support to our Head of Department role holders. The successful applicant will demonstrate high level interpersonal and leadership skills in their daily interactions with staff, students and the broader College community.

St Michael’s College is a co-educational Catholic secondary College administered by Brisbane Catholic Education with an approximate enrolment of 900 students. We are recognised on the Gold Coast for our great successes in academic, cultural, sporting and vocational fields over the past 30 years. Our curriculum is broad, allowing for each student’s development across Academic, Spiritual, Vocational, Cultural and Sporting arenas. We are known for our strong pastoral program and as a friendly learning Catholic community. Our staff are well trained in contemporary and innovative classroom pedagogy.

Tenure Duration (if "Fixed Term"):  Teaching position is continuing - Middle Leadership position is subject to review in 2020 as per enterprise agreement.

This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.

About St Michael's College

St Michael’s College is a mixed, non-selective, independent Catholic secondary school with sixth form in Queensland, serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school is situated in Merrimac and has approximately 950 pupils on record. 

St Michael’s College was founded in 1985. It is administered by Brisbane Catholic Education. The school is committed to providing an outstanding education and each student is supplied with an iPad or MacBook in class to allow for them to enhance their learning and for teachers to have more flexibility with classroom teaching.

Curriculum 

St Michael’s College offers a broad and balanced learning curriculum designed to aspire each student to become an independent and responsible learner. The secondary school offers a wide range of academic support to aid those requiring additional assistance, including tutorials and a ‘Learning Enhancement and Activities Program’ – which is designed to help students improve their literacy and numeracy skills.
