Head of Learning Support

We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Learning Support to lead and develop our Learning Support Department.

Position: Head of Learning Support

Curriculum: Adapted English National Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE, and IB Diploma Programme.

Education Stage: Whole School (Primary and Secondary, 18 months –18 years)

Position Type: Full-time

Job Description:

As the Head of Learning Support at KISU, you will lead the provision for students with additional learning needs across the school. You will be responsible for developing and implementing an inclusive learning support strategy that ensures all students can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

You will oversee the identification, assessment, and support of students with a range of learning needs, including Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and other learning differences. Working closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals, you will ensure high-quality interventions and Individualised Educational plans (IEPs) are in place.

The role also includes leading and mentoring the Learning Support team, coaching staff and learning support assistants on inclusive teaching practices, and promoting a whole-school culture of inclusion and wellbeing.

Skills and Qualifications:

·      Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field (minimum requirement)

·      Qualified Teacher Status (PGCE/PGDE or equivalent)

·      Additional qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Learning Support (desirable)

·      Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in Learning Support/SEN, with leadership experience preferred

·      Strong knowledge of inclusive education practices within the English National Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE, and IB frameworks

·      Experience in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and coordinating interventions

·      Ability to lead, manage, and develop a team effectively

·      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff, parents, and external specialists

·      Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

·      Proficient in using educational technology to support diverse learners
