Loughborough Amherst School is part of Loughborough Schools Foundation and is an Independent School in the centre of Loughborough. We have a co-educational Preparatory School from ages 4 to 11 and girls’ Senior and Sixth Form (11 to 18). Our Senior School and Sixth Form will be co-educational with effect from September 2019. We have a long and respected tradition of educating the whole person.  The School enables students to achieve their full potential within a warm, caring family environment.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspiring Head of Mathematics to lead this core department of four staff. Strong subject knowledge is essential, as well as the ability to teach exciting and engaging lessons. This post also involves management of our small ICT Department, but no subject specialism in this area is required.

Loughborough Amherst School (LAS) is an independent Catholic day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 4 to 18. Originally Our Lady’s Convent School, the School was founded in 1850 by the Rosminian Order of the Sisters of Providence.  In 2015, the School became part of the Loughborough Schools Foundation and was renamed 'Loughborough Amherst School' when it became fully coeducational in 2019.  In the same year, Amherst welcomed its first boarders as part of its elite tennis programme, in partnership with Loughborough University National Tennis Academy (LUNTA).

Loughborough Amherst School is a member of The Catholic Independent Schools' Conference and of The Society of Heads.

Loughborough is situated at the edge of the Charnwood Forest and there is easy access to beautiful countryside for walking. Loughborough is 3 miles from the M1, Leicester and Nottingham are only 30 and 40 minutes' drive and there is a direct rail service to London St Pancras International taking from 90 minutes.
