Job overview

This post is suitable for a candidate looking for their first leadership post with appropriate mentoring and support available. It would equally suit an experienced leader with opportunities for wider leadership responsibilities available.

Are you a positive, dynamic teacher looking to make a difference? City Academy Birmingham is looking to recruit teachers, from NQTs to experienced staff, to join its dynamic, committed team.

City Academy Birmingham is inspired and guided by CORE Education Trust’s four values of collaboration, opportunity, respect, and excellence; these values underpin daily life. Supported by an enthusiastic and dedicated team of staff, new recruits will find a calm, purposeful school environment where students are appreciative of the excellent opportunities available to them. The school has been on a significant journey in recent years with its progress and current stability recognised in the “good” Ofsted outcome in February 2017. We continually strive for better and recognise the importance of investing in staff development in order to do this. Potential candidates are strongly recommended to visit the school and meet the new Headteacher to see the strengths of the school in action and find out about its exciting new developments.

Part of a values driven and expanding multi-academy trust, staff benefit from cross-trust collaboration. CORE Education Trust is led by some of Birmingham's leading educational and business leaders and works with a number of high profile partners including Birmingham City Football Club and the Tennis Foundation.

City Academy Birmingham is a small inner city secondary school that is rapidly becoming the first choice of the local community. City Academy Birmingham was judged as ‘Good’ in all categories in January 2017. Ofsted stated:

  • “The ethos of high expectation for learning and behaviour is widely shared across staff, pupils and parents, and is a core strength of the school”.
  • “Pupils behave well. They conduct themselves courteously around the school site. Pupils feel safe, and are confident in the support they receive when they feel vulnerable.”
  • “Pupils make good progress, especially in English, mathematics and science.”
  • “The school’s strong promotion of the values of tolerance and respect for difference helps to ensure that pupils from a wide range of heritages and backgrounds integrate well.”
  • “Governance has been transformed and now offers highly effective support and challenge to school leaders”.
  • “The leadership of teaching is a particular strength”.

Every member of our Academy lives by CORE Education Trust's four core values: Collaboration, Opportunity, Respect and Excellence.
