The Milton Keynes Academy is an Academy with strong links in the community.  Our Academy is underpinned by an ethos based on raising aspirations and raising achievement, so that we realise our mission of providing opportunities for everyone.  We are relentless in our pursuit of high standards and excellence and emphasise traditional core values of good behaviour, honesty and mutual respect.

We are a vibrant Academy (Ofsted judgement Good November 2017) with outstanding facilities.  We cater for 1400 pupils aged 11-19 and welcome pupils of all abilities.  We are a member of the Creative Education Trust (CET), which marks a new phase on our journey and will further strengthen the Academy on our pursuit to Outstanding. The ideal applicant would be an outstanding Teacher of Maths with a proven track record of raising achievement through excellent and inspirational leadership. They will demonstrate first-rate subject and pedagogical knowledge and an awareness of the changes in the curriculum, along with a strong understanding of data and how it is used to close gaps in achievement.  They will be leading and managing a thriving team of experienced teachers.  

As the Head of Department your passion and your belief of opportunities for everyone will enable you to use your strategic leadership, ably assisted by two Key Stage Co-ordinators and a Curriculum Assistant, in curriculum design and developments in learning and teaching. Your passion for the subject will influence both your team and the students and contribute to a lifelong love of Maths and employability of our students.

You will be leading an innovative and forward thinking mathematics department with strong links to the Enigma Mathematics Hub.  We follow a Mastery curriculum underpinned by excellent theory and practices and you will be involved in regular Teacher Research Groups, developing lessons based around high quality resources including manipulatives and purpose made presentations.   We pride ourselves in working collaboratively to raise achievement whilst maintaining the important work life balance.

The mathematics department is housed in the Aspire Village where all classrooms have an Interactive White Board, desktop computer and a visualiser enabling you to deliver engaging lessons.  Outside of the classrooms we have a computer suite that can also be utilised.  Furthermore, you will benefit from a highly organised curriculum plan where all lessons are planned and stored on the Academy's online curriculum, Moodle.

The Milton Keynes Academy is a co-educational, non-selective secondary school for students aged 11-18. We are a member of the Creative Education Trust, a charity and multi-academy trust with a network of non-selective primary and secondary state schools.
