We are looking to appoint a hardworking, ambitious and dynamic Head of Languages. You will monitor and support the overall progress and development of the languages department, provide a motivating and structured learning experience to help students achieve their potential, and contribute significantly to raising standards of students’ attainment.

The successful applicant will be able to teach German, as well as either French and/or Spanish, up to Key Stage 4.

Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School, ranked in the top 25% of schools in the country, is an 11-18 years mixed comprehensive school situated on the outskirts of St. Albans. The school is a vibrant place of activity, inclusivity and kindness which allows children to flourish and grow in confidence. Our recent Ofsted inspection grading of a ‘Good’ acknowledged the rapid improvements that have been made in the school over the last two years. In order to continue building on these successes we are looking to appoint an excellent Head of Modern Foreign Languages who is committed to ensuring children enjoy learning and achieve to the best of their ability. You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and be committed to using a range of innovative teaching and learning strategies.

Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School is a mixed, comprehensive, Roman Catholic secondary school with sixth form situated in St Albans, Hertfordshire. It is also part of The Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust (DOWAT), which sponsors eleven faith schools in the Diocese of Westminster.

The School's last Ofsted Inspection in November 2023 rated Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School as 'Outstanding'.

The School's recent Catholic Schools Inspectorate Section 48 Inspection - March 2023 rated Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School as 'Outstanding'.
