Job overview

Head of/or Teacher of Drama (maternity cover)

Contract Type: Fixed term contract

Hours: Full Time

Contract Length: Temporary up to 1 year

Salary: Wycliffe pay scale and responsibility allowance

Required from September 2023

Our small but thriving Drama department offers an exceptional experience for the pupils both in extracurricular provision and examined courses. An opportunity has arisen to join them and lead provision whilst the Head of Department takes maternity leave. The post would suit someone seeking their first role in management, or an experienced subject leader. We are prepared to consider applications from experienced teachers who do not want the management responsibility, and provide temporary leadership from an aligned department. What matters most is your positivity, enthusiasm, relentless focus on pupils’ experiences and outcomes, and a genuine zeal for the subject.

If you are a well-qualified, excellent teacher, committed to the highest standards in teaching and learning, and would love the chance to take the pedagogical lead, this is the post for you.

We welcome applications from across all sectors and backgrounds. Wycliffe values diversity and seeks to be an inclusive community. What matters are your skills as a Drama teacher, and your ability to know what good teaching and learning look like. The ideal candidate will align these qualities with a determination to succeed and aspirational ambition for the pupils studying Drama.

Wycliffe’s highly-regarded Teaching Philosophy is based on evidence-informed practice, staff development and a passion for teaching and learning. We encourage a collaborative approach to planning and teaching, with teachers sharing and discussing ideas on a daily basis.

The College is justifiably proud of its outstanding co-curricular and pastoral provision and the successful candidate will be expected to discuss these areas at interview and explain how they will play a full part in them. College accommodation, suitable for a single person or couple, may be available for the first twelve months in post to support someone moving into the Gloucestershire area.

If you share our vision and want to work in an outstanding environment with a supportive Common Room, and relish the challenge of teaching the full range of ability levels, why not join us in our beautiful Gloucestershire home?

Closing date: 13th February 2023 - 10am

Interviews: w/e 17th February 2023
