We are a boy's school with co-educational Sixth Form. There are currently 960 pupils on roll; approximately 100 of these are boarders. The Sixth Form has about 368 students of whom just over 90 are girls.
Our School Development Plan and School Strategy both refer to building numbers in the School and, in particular, broadening the socio-economic mix of our students so that we attract more local students and more students from disadvantaged backgrounds, including those entitled to the Pupil Premium. We are therefore creating a new post of Head of Outreach to strengthen our capacity to achieve our goals in this area. The post-holder will be responsible for raising the profile of the School in the local area, and working to attract more disadvantaged students to the School. This role will be central to the School’s efforts to contribute to increasing social mobility.
This role will involve liaising with and working alongside teachers and pupils in the additional 25 primary schools in the designated local area to create opportunities for inter-school collaboration, as well as organising the annual Summer School and meetings with key staff and parents. The post will also include outreach to local primary schools as part of our weekly mentoring programme for Sixth Formers and will be operational from September 2021.
This role offers a flexible working pattern of an average of 20 hours per week, term-time plus 3 weeks (15 extra days during the school holidays).
It will be a fundamental requirement of the post to bring new ideas and initiatives to the school in terms of outreach to our community and the successful candidate must have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude to the role, as well as knowledge of current Pupil Premium legislation. The ability to work independently and be self-motivated is key. The hours will be flexible as there will be a degree of evening work in attending parents' evenings etc. at local schools, to represent Haberdashers' Adams, so will be based on an average of 20 hours per week (a full day in school on a Wednesday will be fixed).
Salary will be subject to experience and qualifications.
