Job overview

Head of Performing Arts Faculty

MPS (Outer London) + TLR 2C (£7,017) Dependent on experience

OFSTED: ‘Students thrive in this school’.

Hatch End High School is a high performing, innovative Academy in Harrow with a large and very successful Sixth Form. We are extremely proud of our diverse and multi-ethnic cohort and outstanding reputation for inclusion and academic achievement. Standards and progress are high, but we are never complacent. Our school ethos, WE CARE: Co-operation, Ambition, Respect, Excellence, underpins everything we do.  The Arts are highly valued at the school and permeate our culture on a daily basis.

We are looking for an outstanding Head of Performing Arts to bring together our faculty and lead them on its next exciting journey.  The Performing Arts compromise the highly successful subjects of Music, Drama and Performing Arts.

The Performing Arts Faculty comprises Music, Drama and Performing Arts and has always had a strong reputation, both in school and the local community. However, there is as always, room for development, particularly in relation to securing strong examination outcomes.  This post requires an outstanding practitioner who is able to teach both Performing Arts and Drama.

In addition to the development of the curriculum, the faculty prides itself on the extra-curricular activities and overall support it offers to all students, irrelevant of previous experience and knowledge.  As well as the traditional GCSE and A Level courses, we also offer BTEC Performing Arts at both Level 2 and Level 3. Our whole school production is west end quality and the team play a key role in raising the profile of the Arts in the Harrow community.

Our facilities are outstanding with a dedicated theatre space and a huge recently refurbished Great Hall, the largest in the Borough for large-scale performances.

Continuing professional development for our Middle Leaders is at the core of everything we do and you would be joining an organisation which would offer numerous career developments to Senior Leadership and beyond.

Closing Date: Noon, Monday 22nd February 2021

Interviews: To be confirmed

Start date: 1 September 2021
