Job overview

We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Head of Physical Education to contribute to our growing, high-performing PE department. 

An outstanding provider, the department comprises of a vibrant, experienced and dedicated team of subject specialists who teach both theoretical and practical aspects of physical education across a number of different contexts to a diverse range of students. 

The department comprises of eight members of PE staff, a number of whom carry wider college responsibilities, and also an administrative assistant. The department teach core PE to all Key Stage 3 and 4 students. They also offer GCSE PE, Cambridge National in Sports Studies Level 2, A level PE and Cambridge Technical in Sport at Level 3. The department are very proactive and engaged with the college community, offering a breadth of extra-curricular activities. The ethos is one of supportive challenge to provide the best possible experience of Physical Education for students.

All Key Stage 4 students are timetabled curriculum PE for two 50-minute periods a week, all of which is of a practical nature. In addition, at Key Stage 4, students can select GCSE PE or Cambridge National in Sports Studies for an additional three periods a week. At Key Stage 5, students can select A level PE or Cambridge Technical in Sport. 

To be successful, you will be an excellent classroom practitioner who puts learning at the centre of your work, having outstanding organisational skills and knowledge to inspire colleagues and add value to the learning experience of our students. You will have a willingness to be involved with extra-curricular programmes and to promote PE throughout the college, with an enthusiasm for working across the faculty with other colleagues.
