Appointment of a Head of Primary for Chaoyang Kaiwen Academy.

Kaiwen Education, in partnership with the Chinese Government, seeks an outstanding leader to serve as the Head of Primary for Chaoyang Kaiwen Academy which opened in September 2017. Situated on a £300 million state-of-the-art campus in the Chaoyang District of Beijing, Kaiwen Academy provides outstanding day and boarding education for 3,000 students aged 5 to 18.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to lead within an agenda-setting school at the forefront of international education, blending the best of Chinese tradition and western pedagogy to provide a truly exceptional educational experience.

The Head of Primary will be an innovative leader with the energy, ambition and experience to help deliver a new vision for world class education in the 21st century. He or she will combine a track record of highly successful leadership experience, developed in the UK or internationally, with the cultural awareness and global perspective to lead a diverse learning community in one of the most vibrant cities in the world. Experience of the Primary Years Programme or Cambridge Primary would be an advantage.

The School

Beijing Haidian Kaiwen Academy (KWA), founded in 2016, is a K-12 international school accredited by Cognia and is a WASC candidate school. Located at the foot of the picturesque and historic YuQuan Mountain, Haidian District in Beijing, the KWA campus is 200,000 square meters of beautiful gardens that integrate natural ecology, cultural heritage, and modern beauty with 140,000 square meters of green space.


Curriculum at KWA

Our school is organized into the Primary School, grades K-5, the Middle School, grades 6-8, and high school, grades 9-12. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Education’s nine-year compulsory education program, KWA’s curriculum is built on strength from both Chinese and western education.

For Primary and Middle School, we follow a bilingual program using the US Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards along with the Chinese National Curriculum.

For High School, we follow the US Common Core and College Board AP curriculum and also offer the UK IGCSE and A-Level UK programs.
