Job overview

NEW AYLESBURY CAMPUS OPENING SEPTEMBER 2018

St Michael’s is a through school currently providing Catholic education in High Wycombe, in September 2018 we will be welcoming year 7’s to the new St. Michael’s satellite secondary school in Aylesbury.

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside the Executive Headteacher to have significant influence on the strategic development of the on-going planning for the Aylesbury Campus.

The new school will be built on the old Quarrenden School site to the west of Aylesbury town centre. The new school building is a £24 million project that is due to open in September 2019. However the basic need for Catholic pupils and others in Aylesbury means that St. Michael’s will open in September 2018. The new school will be in bespoke temporary accommodation for the first year.

It is our aim to provide the best education for our pupils. We believe in placing the child at the heart of all that we do knowing that it is a real privilege for us, as educators, to walk alongside the children as they grow in their faith and knowledge. As a through school, we are particularly blessed to see students grow from the very beginning of their formal education to their final steps before further study, work and life beyond school.

We are seeking to appoint a candidate with strong leadership and management skills, presence and drive and are willing to support every individual to fulfil their potential.

We are a Catholic community and strive to uphold strong spiritual and moral values, both in and outside the classroom. Applicants should be practising Catholics. As a Catholic School we believe in educating and living by the Gospel Values. It is for this reason that we have built our school community with the children at the centre, of all that we do.

Ofsted report

“Teaching is usually good and some is outstanding. Teachers have good subject knowledge, present introductions clearly to classes and support students well with their learning. Teachers check on learning regularly in lessons and adapt activities where necessary so progress remains good. Students have positive attitudes to learning and behave well around the school. They say they feel safe in the school and they have a good awareness of how to keep themselves safe in different situations. The proportion of students who achieved five A* to G grades at GCSE has been above the national average for the last three years, with all students achieving at least five qualifications in 2013.”
