We would like to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Head of Science to join a successful and committed team of professionals. The successful candidate will possess, or have the potential for, outstanding teaching skills and will be an asset to this core subject. 

St Joseph’s is well known for being a great school to teach in, where the students are highly aspirational. We were judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted in January 2016 where the school was described as having a ‘deep seated conviction and moral purpose that all pupils have the right to an excellent education which drives a very positive culture in the school’. Our provisional progress 8 score for 2019 is likely to place us in the top 20% of schools nationally. We believe in professional development; in exchange for hard work and a commitment to the school, we will ensure that you are prepared for the next stage in your teaching career. 

The Science Department is a committed and supportive team and the importance of achieving in the subject is clearly recognised by the pupils. The department boasts a track record of improvement and success with result improving every year for the last 6 years. 

The candidate should have knowledge of the Science National Curriculum at KS3 and at KS4 we offer double and triple Science (AQA syllabus). We also offer A ‘level in all 3 Science disciplines. The candidate should have experience of leading in some capacity although as a Head of Department is not essential.
