NIA Smash has a very exciting opportunity to become part of the school’s senior leadership team. 

NIA Smash is part of the Newton Group.

Founded in 2006, The Newton Group is the largest network of schools in Qatar. Our international schools deliver the British National Curriculum across all age groups. We are staffed by British and English speaking teachers who provide a caring educational environment for our local and expatriate students who come from a wide range of backgrounds. NIA Smash was founded in August 2020 and will have it's first Year 11 cohort from August 2022.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic school leader as Head of Secondary, with effect from August 2022.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an intelligent, ambitious, and energetic Secondary Leader, to impact and shape the delivery of international education at a high-quality education establishment.

Applicants should be committed and outstanding teaching practitioners, able to lead by example, possessing excellent teaching, organisational and communication skills. We are seeking individuals who can apply a committed and common-sense approach to secondary education, such that it achieves outstanding results and happy children.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team, playing a key role in the development and implementation of the school’s strategic plan and managing the academic and pastoral programmes of the Secondary School in line with the Vision, Mission and Values of the School.

The Head of Secondary is a senior figure in the school and as such should be an exemplary, and visible, role model for staff, students and parents.

Applicants should possess:   

• exemplary teaching and leadership skills

• effective communication

• a supportive and strong team ethic

• initiative and resilience

• British curriculum expertise (mathematics, English, science & technology, humanities, arts)

• have 6+ years’ of experience in the same role within British Curriculum schools


Responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

• Development of the Secondary curriculum (National curriculum for England in KS3 and Edexcel/Cambridge for KS4) 

• Conducting professional development training programme 

• Liaising with parents 

• Providing support to students with special needs and work in close contact with the AESN department 

• Supervising the safety and general welfare of students

• Lesson observation and performance appraisal 

• Providing a process of reporting regularly to parents on students’ academic and social development and ensuring all parents are aware of school’s procedures 

• Conducting interviews and hiring teachers.
