Job overview

As a member of the School Management Team, the Head of Section will have responsibility for the Section and Improvement Plans, as well as, contributing to College Objectives and Improvement Plans.

You will recruit, conduct and progress all students on all programmes within the Section and ensure that success rates and value added performance improves towards outstanding. Ensuring that all Section programmes meet the needs, standards and requirements of all partners, including employers and examination bodies, you will oversee performance management in order to deliver outstanding teaching and learning with high standards of student guidance, support and industry linked enrichment opportunities.

So, if you are educated to Degree level (or hold an appropriate professional qualification) in an area relevant to the work in the Section,  hold a recognised teaching qualification and possess experience in managing a Higher Education provision, then we would love to hear from you!

With substantial teaching experience and recognised as a good or better teacher, you will have demonstrable leadership and management skills in the context of curriculum and staff management, allowing you to implement a strong vision for improvement and development and to identify training and development needs for both teaching and support teams.

If you a trained lesson observer and hold or are willing to work towards a management qualification, then this would be advantageous, however it is not essential.

Carshalton College is a co-educational further education college based in Sutton. It is a non-denominational school.

The college has been an education provider for over 60 years. It is a major provider of full-time, part-time, apprenticeships, access, undergraduate and supported learning courses.
