Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an individual who will take full responsibility for the Art department for 12 months to cover the maternity leave of the Head of Department.  The GCSE Fine Art and Photography courses are incredibly popular at Esher High School. Both subjects receive a high intake of students each year, with students excelling in both areas. We are very proud of our student’s art work, which can be seen throughout the school. An exhibition of work is displayed at the end of each academic year which celebrates the outstanding achievements of all art students.

The Art Department is situated within an excellent Art Block and works closely with the Performing Arts Department.  The Art block includes a performance space seating in excess of 200 for both school and community use, teaching rooms, 2 art studios, display space and a full ICT suite, housing Apple MAC computers and laptops to facilitate work on visual arts.   The Art department is proud to offer a stock of Canon DSLR’s to use during photography lessons.

Our Art Department promotes a broad range of disciplines and we would therefore encourage teachers from all art specialisms to apply. The HOD would be responsible for overseeing GCSE students in both Fine Art and Photography courses.

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding art teacher to take a lead role within the department who is:

• Passionate about art and able to inspire students

• Willing to promote and contribute to the full range of extra-curricular activities

• Highly motivated and enjoys working as part of a supportive team

• Keen to share and promote the school’s vision of high standards and success for all

A full induction programme is provided for all new staff, and a commitment to continued professional development.

To arrange a visit please email recruitment@esherhigh.surrey.sch.uk or telephone 01372 468068 Ext 225.

Closing Date: Midday on Monday 28th January 2019

Interviews will take place on Thursday 31st January 2019

Early applications and visits to the school are welcome.

Our School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.  Any successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure check by the disclosure and Barring Service.
