The Governors of Moreton Hall seek to appoint a Principal from September 2019 on the retirement of Jonathan Forster after 27 years of outstanding service.

Moreton Hall is an exceptional school of around 550 pupils set in stunning Shropshire countryside, with good access to motorway networks and airports. The school is in a strong financial position and there has been much recent investment in new buildings and renovations.

Building together the five parts of this exciting and diverse School with its inspiring ethos and special atmosphere, the next Principal will develop its outstanding work preparing young people for the global opportunities of the future.

Located in the town of Oswestry, Shropshire, Moreton Hall is an all-through school with a Sixth Form for pupils between the ages of 3 and 18. The school was founded in 1913 in an Elizabethan manor house. Boys are accepted up to Year 8. 

Values and vision

Moreton Hall aims to provide a high standard of education by following a tailored curriculum. It offers a nurturing environment that allows girls to grow and excel, personally and academically. Pupils are able to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities on the school grounds. The principal believes the aim of the school is to “stretch the most able and support the least confident”. Teachers are there to inform and guide students to be lifelong learners.

“The curriculum is supported by an appropriate policy, detailed schemes of work and plans. It provides particular breadth in modern languages. Those with individual needs are identified carefully so that all pupils can learn and make progress. Pupils’ personal development is supported through personal, social, health and citizenship education. This encourages pupils to respect others and listen to their views. Teaching provokes a wide range of activities in class which develop pupils’ understanding.”
