Job overview

Due to internal promotion the EBN Trust are seeking 2 exceptional Head Teachers to lead our academies in Yardley & Castle Vale.  With a new Executive Head Teacher recently appointed, the Head Teachers at the Academies will be critical to the future success of the Trust and its students.

The EBN Academies are Alternative Provision Free Schools that have been established by the secondary schools in the East Birmingham Network to provide high quality education and support to their students. The Academies cater for students’ aged 13-16 for whom mainstream education is no longer appropriate and a different type of educational experience is necessary to improve their outcomes. The Academy in Yardley opened in September 2012 and was judged as a good school in its first Ofsted inspection in May 2014. Outcomes for students have improved yearly as a result of a broad and relevant curriculum coupled with a clear focus on high quality teaching and support. The Academy in Castle Vale opened in September 2015 and has grown from initially catering for 40 students in its first year to its full PAN of 90. The Academy is currently awaiting its first Ofsted inspection and outcomes are above the national average for the alternative provision sector. Both Academies are supported by the EBN Trust Board and work closely with the EBN Partnership of schools to ensure that students are given the best possible opportunities to be successful and move on to the next phase of the education, employment and training.

In order to continue the growth of the Academies and further develop support for the students the Directors and Executive Head Teacher are seeking to appoint a Head Teacher at each Academy who:

· Has recent and substantial experience at Head Teacher of Deputy Head level within the secondary phase.

· Is a dynamic and inspirational leader with the vision and drive to advance and further strengthen the Academy

· Can maintain strategic direction with the ability to be creative, rigorous and practical.

· Is an excellent practitioner who is able lead our very talented and reflective teaching and support teams.

· Is passionate about releasing the potential of all children within a multi-cultured inclusive school.

· Is able to maintain and nurture our ethos where all pupils can feel equally valued for their culture and contributions.

· Is able to demonstrate a flair for working collaboratively in order to maintain and develop our very positive relations with pupils, staff, parents/carers, governors, our neighbouring schools and the wider community

The EBN Trust have taken every opportunity to create excellent facilities to meet the needs of our students. We are in a strong financial position and are ready to develop further to ensure the very best education for all of our students. Interested candidates are very welcome to visit either/both Academy’s.

We will offer the successful candidate a competitive salary and private health care
