Position Information 

Tamworth High School is a comprehensive co-educational high school of approximately 700 students, located in a large regional city. It provides an education for students from a large cross-section of the community, including children from urban and rural environments, and from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. Tamworth High was the original public secondary school established in the city in 1919 and has been located on its current site since 1961. As such, the school enjoys a strong community identity with traditions in academic, sporting, leadership and cultural pursuits. The school has a small but steadily increasing number of students requiring English Language Proficiency support. There is an Aboriginal population of approximately 43% who enjoy the support of a strong and proactive Aboriginal Education Team. This team is led by a regionally funded Head Teacher - Learning & Engagement. The school actively supports the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and encourages leadership and student voice through an active Junior Aboriginal Education Consultative Group. The Parents and Citizens Association is actively committed to continued improvements via financial support and in an advisory capacity. 

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
Proven ability to provide strong leadership to innovate and manage a diverse and dynamic Crerative and Performing Arts Faculty, delivering measured positive outcomes for all students.
Demonstrated ability to be a dynamic member of the executive leadership team and to lead initiatives that address whole school strategic directions and nurture positive quality relationaships across the school community.
Lead staff, at a faculty and whole school level, in developing a culture of high expectations in Creative and Performing Arts for all students.
Knowledge of and understanding of system priorities, in order to strengthen staff cultural capabilities to improve outcomes for all students including Aboriginal students.
  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
