Clayhill School are recruiting for a Head Teacher. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced education practitioner with a proven track record of leadership in an education provision.  Supported by an executive team the post-holder will oversee the day-to-day operational management of the school and will also be pivotal in developing and establishing a shared vision and strategic plan for the School.

Clay Hill School is an independent specialist day school for young people with learning difficulties, autism and associated complex needs. We provide education, therapies and support for young people aged 5 to 19 years.

Clay Hill School is an effective provision providing small group education, individualised therapy, and a carefully and creatively constructed curriculum which develops a love of learning and gives our young people the best possible outcomes. 

A calm, purposeful and caring environment is provided, which combined with high staff to pupil ratios, ensures that every pupil at Clay Hill School has the opportunity to develop their ability, share new experiences and reach their full potential in a secure and safe environment.

The successful candidate will have experience in supporting young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD and associated complex needs along with the following characteristics:

Resilience – We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged. 

Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Positive working relationships, good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.

Organisation – Organisation is key to ensure the safe management of both employees and resources as well as leading and directing staff through inspection processes.

Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer.  If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.

Attentive – No two tasks will be the same so being attentive to understand the needs of the young people we support is vital

Clay Hill School is an independent, specialist day school for young people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Attachment Disorder and associated complex needs. We provide education for up to 42 young people aged 5 to 19 years

We provide a warm and welcoming, yet structured environment, which encourages children and young people to develop the social, educational and practical skills they require to enjoy and achieve.
