Dynamic and Inspirational Head Teacher required for Eleanor Smith School

A fantastic opportunity for an innovative, creative, courageous and resilient Head Teacher to grow, nurture and lead a unique special school in an ethnically diverse inner-city area.

Eleanor Smith is a special school for children with social, emotional, behavioural and mental health needs, with a therapeutic approach. It has places for between 77 and 112 children and young people.

The school is part of Eko Multi Academy Trust in the London Borough of Newham, in East London.

Typically, children are taught for three days at Eleanor Smith with two days spent at a mainstream link school with the aim of the provision to return the pupil full time to mainstream education.

The ideal candidate will have successful experience of senior leadership in either a special or mainstream education setting, as we are just as keen to encourage applications from candidates with a relevant mainstream background as those with special school experience. This experience will cover a range of areas, including innovative ways to draw down funding.

He or she will be supported in post by a trust leadership which ensures our:

  • Children leave with the resilience and motivation to continue their successful learning
