Head Teacher 

Phoenix House, a new international school opening in the centre of Tokyo for international students aged 5 to 13, is seeking to appoint an outstanding founding Head Teacher for our August 2021 launch.

We will be offering a language-rich, British independent school style education based on the National Curriculum of England, integrating a thematic and inquiry based learning approach beyond the core teaching of English and maths. Our mission is to create young people who enjoy learning, can work collaboratively, ask deep questions and think critically.

The new Head Teacher will need to be a strong team builder as we appoint and assemble a brand new teaching and administrative team and have a passion for ensuring excellent educational outcomes for all pupils both in and outside the classroom. Understanding the challenges of developing a new school in an international context will be crucial. A love of outdoor education would be advantageous as all students will take regular residential trips to our enrichment campus, North Peak, in Hokkaido throughout the year.

House life will be central to student and staff experience at Phoenix House. Building confidence and enriching the school community, Rothesay House, Oak House and Clarence House will bring the arts, culture and character to the heart of the school.

The interview process will take place during January 2021. Due to COVID-19, in-person school visits may not be possible. Full Head Teacher interview process may be conducted online.
