Position Information 

Bossley Park High School is a large comprehensive school of 1390 students, where 82% of students are from a language background other than English. It includes a physical disabilities unit for 20 students. The dedicated staff and community hold high expectations for learning, continuous school improvement and achievement for all students. Bossley Park High School reinforces positive behaviours for learning through the promotion of our safe, respectful learner code. The school is recognised for its broad curriculum and successful high performance programs to build the talent and potential of students. These include a successful accelerated mathematics program, outstanding visual arts and performing arts program, a robotics and a talented football program. The school is recognised as a Leader in Robotics in NSW Secondary Schools being awarded the Digital Lighthouse School. We also focus on the development and promotion of STEM learning and education. The school maintains strong community support from parents and carers. It is also well known in the community for its strong student leadership, engagement programs and well-being initiatives that ensure our students are known, valued and cared for in our school.

As well as other duties, the Head Teacher Science is responsible for the running of the school agricultural farm and the management and upkeep of its resources and animals.

Interviews for this position will occur early term 1, 2021.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  1. Capacity to lead and support a diverse range of teachers in implementing evidence-based teaching practices and improve achievement and engagement for a range of student needs and abilities.
  2. Ability to collaborate, create and implement a range of innovative, future focused programs to support Project Based Learning and cross–curricular projects including STEM.
  3. Demonstrated capacity as an effective educational leader, including strategic leadership of planning and improvement processes and ability to work as a member of the school executive in implementing the school’s Strategic Improvement Plan. 

 

  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
