Position Information 

Mulwaree High School is the largest comprehensive secondary school in Goulburn with a support unit comprising 4 classes. The student population is approximately 940 and has 9% of students identify as having an Aboriginal background and 6% with a non-English speaking background. The school's staffing entitlement is 70 teaching staff and 16 non-teaching staff, 20% are early career teachers.

Students, staff and the community are united in the values, respect, responsibility and opportunity. The school has a positive culture and promotes students taking up opportunities to embrace and develop their talents.

A comprehensive situational analysis has been conducted and included consultation with students, staff, parents, P and C, the local AECG and the Multicultural Communities Group. Through this situational analysis, there are identified high level improvement areas for focus over the next four years. The school is committed to continually improving effective classroom practices underpinned by high impact professional learning. This learning will ensure that both literacy and numeracy outcomes are enhanced through improved data analysis and individualised and differentiated learning. There will also be a focus on Higher School Certificate performance including staff professional learning around deeper analysis and use of data to develop both individual and group support programs. Each faculty will develop ways of deepening the knowledge base of their students.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

  1. Capacity to lead colleagues to plan, implement and review curriculum and evaluate effectiveness of teaching and learning programs resulting in improved learning outcomes.  

  2. Demonstrated capacity to lead the Science faculty in innovative teaching practices that meets the needs of a diverse range of student abilities. 

  3. A visible leader with capacity to work collaboratively as part of the school executive team to drive quality, evidence-based teaching initiatives related to the school’s strategic improvement plan, that have a sustained impact on student improvement. 

  4. Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to develop a culture of high expectations, and creative thinking across the faculty. 

  
General Selection Criteria 
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
 
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
