The Governing Body of Mark Rutherford School is looking to appoint an outstanding, enthusiastic and innovative Headteacher with a proven track record of school improvement and an excellent reputation for high standards and academic achievement who also has the drive to lead the strong leadership team on its journey to making the school outstanding.
Mark Rutherford School is an oversubscribed, standalone Academy, with a current on-roll figure of over 1300 students and strong, established links with feeder primary schools and new local secondary schools. As part of Mark Rutherford School, The Nightingale Provision is the specialist Autism centre that is well-respected and hugely successful.
Fully staffed with excellent staff retention rates, the school prides itself on the dedication and commitment of staff to raising standards whilst developing each child to reach their potential. Support for students of all backgrounds is very strong with an exceptional pastoral support system. Exam results at Key Stage 4 for English and Maths are 64% (9-4) and improving. Sixth Form results are within the top 10% nationally. Our results are a testament to a strong emphasis on academic achievement, backed up by a real knowledge of each child’s individual needs.
If successfully appointed, you will be supported by an experienced Leadership Team, strong governance and stable, committed staff.

can inspire staff and students to raise existing high expectations, aspirations and outcomes
is a dynamic, inspirational leader with vision and drive
has a flair for working in partnership with parents/carers, other stakeholders and the wider community.
