Job overview

Overview:

Thomas Hickman is an inclusive, forward-looking school which has improved rapidly over recent years. We are a good school and have enthusiastic ambition to be better. High quality pastoral care is central to our ethos where we aim to fully develop the potential of all of our pupils to give them the best start possible start to their education.

We are a two form entry school, located in Aylesbury. We have a wonderfully diverse pupil, parent and staff population and we are supported by a strong school community. We have a Nursery class attached to our school and offer a wide range of after-school clubs.

Why not come and visit our school, see the further information section for our contact details and take a look at our website http://www.thomashickman.bucks.sch.uk/

About the role:

We are looking for a dynamic Headteacher who will securely embed the very good progress that Thomas Hickman has made in recent years whilst driving further improvement towards the outstanding environment that the whole school community has ambition to become.

Our pupils say ‘I love THS because I can learn new things in each lesson (the teachers learn new things too!) and if you join us you can learn new things with us.’

About you:

We are seeking an outstanding and experienced practitioner with the passion, creativity, vision and strategic leadership skills to ensure that our children get the outstanding education opportunity they deserve in a friendly, supportive and caring environment where everyone is valued for the talents they have. The successful candidate will promote and inspire the highest standards of teaching, learning and pupil achievement and they will lead the improvement and enhancement of our curriculum. They will have exceptional team building and communication skills and encourage all stakeholders to be involved in building stronger relationships both within the school and the wider community.  They will be totally committed to child protection and will have a thorough understanding of child protection issues in the widest sense.

We can offer you:

  • Committed, hard-working and supportive staff that have an outstanding commitment to improve our school.
  • A pro-active and supportive Governing Body that has realistic but challenging expectations of progress and attainment.
  • Pupils who are appreciative of staff dedication to their learning and welfare and who love being at our school.
  • A genuine challenge. The advanced progress that we are seeking will not come easily but will be immensely rewarding for all involved.
  • A well-resourced environment
