It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Blacon High School. I am proud and privileged to be the Headteacher of this vibrant community, an environment where every student can flourish and achieve their dreams. Blacon is more than a school; it is a place where great things happen each and every day. Our dedicated team of staff is committed to working with the young people of the Blacon family to achieve the best possible outcomes in a nurturing and supportive environment, where every individual matters.

Our popularity and success is evident in the completion of our new extension, which opened in September 2021 and is testament to our increasing numbers and improving outcomes. The school has grown from 380 students in 2016 to 680 students in 2021. The superb learning environment enables students to follow an ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum, adapted to meet the needs of students.

We believe that all young people are entitled to equal opportunity in life, and we fully accept our responsibility to secure this for our community by achieving the highest standards of teaching and community engagement. ‘Investors in People’ noted about the school that ‘the transition in the school is seamless’ as a consequence of working in strong and creative partnerships. One such partnership is the Blacon Educational Village (BEV). Blacon High School is an active and proud member of the BEV, which links all of the schools together in this community. As a consequence of this powerful collaboration, the school is now oversubscribed as it has become the school of first choice in this community and beyond.

Blacon High School is a smaller than average 11-16 maintained trust school situated on the outskirts of Chester. It serves an area of higher levels of social deprivation than those found nationally. The ethos of our school is one of ambition, excellence and high expectation. It is our fundamental belief that every student can achieve and we believe that we will achieve success through a thinking curriculum and a place where students are inspired to love and enjoy their learning. Our core values of relationships, respect and resilience are the golden threads running through every aspect of school. We believe in the power of education to transform lives and are committed to providing enriching, challenging and fulfilling experiences both within and beyond the curriculum.  A strong feature of the school is its inclusive practices and outcomes for SEND students and disadvantaged are strong.
