Job overview
The Firs School Chester, the only independent prep school in the city, offers a unique opportunity for the right candidate to lead, develop and promote our holistic educational provision.
We are a thriving, nurturing and happy primary school with an expanding pre-school. We have high academic standards and excellent teaching, with a strong focus on developing the individual potential for each of our children. Our students move onto many leading independent, grammar and maintained secondary schools and we provide excellent transition opportunities.
Set in a leafy prosperous suburb, very close to Chester city centre, The Firs is an ISA proprietorial school, run by the same family that founded it, with a clear Christian ethos, where the sense of community is strong and parental links are excellent. Currently we have 165 children aged between 2-11.
The successful candidate will be an excellent practitioner and a visionary leader, with a good record of senior leadership experience.
They must enjoy spending time with children and have a desire to release every child’s potential. A good sense of humour, excellent interpersonal skills and strong leadership qualities are essential to this role. We are seeking a candidate who can continue to move the school forward, enhancing its academic and pastoral reputation. The current Headteacher, Mrs Lucy Davies, is moving on after 5 years of exemplary service at The Firs to another headship position.
Full details can be found in the briefing pack available on this page. Our website www.firsschool.net is full of information to give you a flavour of the school, you are also welcome to visit the school informally pre-application. Closing date for applications: Monday 18th February
Interviews: Tuesday & Wednesday 5th and 6th March
The Firs is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
