Having dedicated 17 years of her professional career successfully leading Pennine Way Primary School, our headteacher has decided that now is the time for her to retire. The Governing Board, with great reluctance have accepted this decision. They will continue in their role to support the headteacher, whilst optimistically seeking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic leader to take up the baton and lead the school into the post Pandemic world. The Governing Board seek someone who will ensure that the school remains a good or better school; with the ability to enable the school community to continue to play a key role in working closely and effectively with the Harraby Community Campus, Harraby Sports Centre and associated Campus occupiers and customers.

We can offer you:

  • Enthusiastic, happy, motivated children
  • A committed team of teachers and support staff
  • A supportive and effective Governing Board
  • A modern community campus setting with excellent relationships within the wider community
  • Our support for your Continuous Professional Development

We are looking for:

  • An approachable, collaborative, inspirational leader, with a clear and distinct vision for the future of the school
  • A commitment to excellence
  • Empathy to the wellbeing and mental health values of pupils, parents/carers/staff
  • An ability to manage the needs of a diverse suburban community
  • Exemplary communication skills at all levels within the school, the wider campus and beyond

Pennine Way Primary School is a friendly school situated on the outskirts of Carlisle between a longestablished local community along with new communities developing on the edge of Carlisle, as the City expands. We are an inclusive school where pupils come from differing backgrounds where the health and wellbeing of the child is just as important as academic achievement. Our school is a happy place where children feel cared for, treated with respect and given every opportunity to be successful and shine across the curriculum.

In 2017 Ofsted recognised that; “This school continues to be good. The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection. Under your inspirational leadership the school has gone from strength to strength. You and your leadership team have created an environment where aspirations, coupled with high expectations, enable pupils to thrive, both academically and in their personal development. Your commitment, and that of your staff, to your children and their families shines through, creating a compelling sense of care and nurture for the whole school community.”

Visits to the school can be arranged by contacting Mrs Kania on 01228 598978. Please go to the school website www.pennineway.cumbria.sch.uk/join-our-team to obtain an application pack.

Closing date for applications is 10.00am Friday 1 July 2022.

These should be emailed to: Mrs Sue Glendinning, Governance Professional to the Governing Board: ccas1@btinternet.com
