Job overview

START DATE: SPRING or SUMMER 2020

Following the recent retirement of the Headteacher at Kinver High School, the Board of Trustees are seeking to appoint a person with drive, tenacity, excellent leadership skills and strategic vision to take the school forward to become Outstanding.

The school’s FSM and SEND percentages are below national averages and KS2 Prior Attainment is above national average. Parental engagement is good, and parents and students alike have high aspirations.

The School Governing Board is skilled and highly committed in supporting the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team in improving outcomes for all students.

Kinver High School was a founding member of the “Invictus Multi Academy Trust” which currently consists of six successful schools with a common aim of providing the highest quality education for all students. Within this the individual schools have their own identity, but benefit hugely from school improvement support from the Trust. Opportunities for continual professional development for all staff are plentiful.

If you are passionate about making a difference for every child, value diversity, respect difference and have the skills to build upon the strengths of our staff team, we would like you to drive our school to further success.

The school was successful in its applications for CIF funding.  A new classroom block has recently been completed on the school site and plans for a new sports hall are well on the way.

We welcome applications for the position of Headteacher, to lead the school at an exciting stage on its journey.

We are looking for a Headteacher who:

 Is a highly effective and successful leader with drive, ambition and the skills to inspire the very highest expectations for all

 Has strong interpersonal skills, is approachable and a good listener

 Has the clarity of thought and resilience to steer the school onto the next stage of its journey

 Is completely committed to the development of both students and staff

 Is committed to working collaboratively with the CEO and the other Headteachers in the Invictus MAT and the Board of Trustees

In return we can offer:

 A friendly, caring and supportive employer with a strong emphasis on staff well-being

 An exciting opportunity to be part of the growth and development of the Invictus MAT

 A receptiveness to new ideas and innovations that promote and extend learning at all levels

Visits to the school are welcomed. Please contact Mrs Rebecca Lippitt (PA to CEO) Tel: 01384 686 510 or email: rlippitt@invictus.education to arrange an appointment.

Kinver High School is widely recognised as a friendly and welcoming school community where all are valued. We aim to support and challenge all our students to work hard and have high aspirations for academic success and personal development. We do this through a curriculum designed to ensure that students develop the wide range of skills and attributes required to be a successful member of society as well as gaining the best possible recognised qualifications; a clear and positive behaviour and rewards system which ensures the school has a positive learning environment and a comprehensive student support structure to make sure all students can access help and guidance when they need it.

Kinver is a small 11- 18 secondary school providing for about 650 students. Being relatively small for a secondary school is seen by parents and students as highly beneficial because we are able to know all of our students well and help them thrive in a caring and close knit environment. Our students flourish in this setting and as a consequence tend to be the best advertisement the school could have. On a regular basis, visitors to Kinver High comment on how well-behaved, friendly and confident our students are. The attainment of students at Kinver is consistently above the national average and their behaviour is very good.

On the 1st March 2015, our school became an academy as a founding member of the Invictus Education trust along with three other local schools, Ellowes Hall Sports College, Crestwood School and Wombourne High School. The reason for taking this exciting step was to add even greater capacity to our ability to provide the best possible education for our students. Having now been joined by Leasowes High School and Pedmore High School, the six schools of the Trust work together to achieve that aim. We are six separate academies but take every opportunity to ensure that our combined efforts add up to a better educational experience for the three thousand students across the Trust.

Following from our conversion to academy status, we changed our school name, which now takes its name from its location in the beautiful rural setting of Kinver. The school serves a wide area comprising of the South Staffordshire villages of Kinver, Stourton, Swindon, Bobbington and Trysull. In addition, it is important to note that we also have many of our students come to us from the Stourbridge and wider Dudley areas, Cookley and Kidderminster, the South of Wolverhampton and Shropshire.
