The Governors wish to appoint an outstanding educationalist to lead this highly successful, friendly school, building upon the significant achievements of the Headteacher, Angela Francis, who is retiring after 22 years’ distinguished service.  The Headship of Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar, Alford presents an excellent opportunity for a strategic, empathetic and dynamic leader to work with a thoroughly committed and talented staff to continually develop a vision for a highly  relevant, vibrant and engaging education for future generations of students. 

Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar, Alford is a popular co-educational selective academy with 573 on roll including 137 in the sixth form.  The school was judged “Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2007.  Examination results at GCSE consistently place the academy amongst the best in the county. 

The Governors are seeking a Headteacher who:

Queen Elizabeth's Grammar, Alford is a co-educational, selective secondary academy based in Lincolnshire, educating students aged 11-18. 

The secondary school has approximately 575 pupils on roll. It has membership of the Young Journalist Academy and has a radio station run by its students.

At Queen Elizabeth's Grammar, Alford, it is believed that learning must be central to the life of every one of its pupils. The school is keen to promote the professional development of staff and its performance management scheme supports them in the regular evaluation of their work.

The school believes there is much more to school life than just what is taught in the classroom. With its business and enterprise focus, Queen Elizabeth's Grammar hopes to gives its students the skills to make a leading contribution on a national scale.

"Pupils' personal development is outstanding. They have exemplary attitudes to their learning. Their behaviour and attendance are excellent. They show respect for each other and have very well developed social skills. This is seen in their willingness to make a contribution to the school through the numerous opportunities to take responsibility and to organise activities. Sixth form students are very strongly involved in the rest of the school and provide impressive examples for others. There is a very strong sense of community in the school."
