Thorpe Willoughby Primary School is situated in a large village, 3 miles outside of the North Yorkshire market town of Selby. Communications are excellent with fast road and links. An area of growth, there has been a significant increase in new house building over the last 2 years. As a result, a building programme has recently been completed which allows for a 20% growth in pupil numbers.

The latest Ofsted inspection (November 2015) rated the school as Good.

An overwhelmingly happy and inclusive school we are proud of our EMS capability, United Nations Rights Respecting School status, our work with the traveller community and the very positive relationships we have with pupils and their families.

Our governors are seeking to appoint a leader who will build on our many strengths as we aim to provide our children with memorable and powerful learning experiences and promote an ethos of self-belief, respect, resilience and high expectations for ourselves and others in everything we learn and achieve.  As an enhanced mainstream school (EMS), we provide support and outreach services to meet the needs of children and young people with communication and interaction needs who require additional and different support to enable them to learn in their local community school.

Our specialised team meet the needs of children and young people within mainstream settings to help them reach their potential.

We have a committed and experienced staff and a governing body focused on providing support to the school.

We are looking for a proven leader with the vision, skills and experience to build on our strengths and continue to raise standards while maintaining our inclusive ethos excellent community relations.

An excellent communicator with a clear vision for our school, you must have experience of fostering good relationships throughout the wider school community together with the ability to effectively manage change.

You must also have the presence and confidence to actively support and develop staff, build networks and develop good working relationships with external organisations.

In addition, your ability to analyse, interpret and report on data and manage budgets will be essential to your success.
