Job overview

The Trustees and governors of this highly successful and oversubscribed Catholic primary school wish to appoint an exceptional, committed and practising Catholic Head Teacher to lead this outstanding school into the next stage of development.

Our school requires a strategic leader, passionate about serving the needs of our diverse community who will create a shared vision driving the school forward and supporting the work of the Catholic Academy Trust to which it belongs.
We have high quality and committed staff, students who want to learn, an excellent reputation and a beautiful school set close to the Pennine Hills with good communication networks.  We are looking for an inspirational, forward thinking, dynamic leader who will empower students and staff to excel.

We are keen to appoint a leader who will ensure that St Patrick’s School will continue to provide a broad curriculum, rooted in Gospel values, which is rich and stimulating and who appreciates the positive impact a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities has on students.

Our current Head Teacher, who will retire in August, has led the school through a significant period of change, leading to the formation of St Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Academy Trust, the first Catholic Academy Trust for the Diocese of Salford.  The school plays a significant role in leading this developing Trust and as the sponsor school for the academy, works closely with Salford Diocesan Teaching Schools and Rochdale Emmaus School Improvement Group.  Together they are dedicated to providing the best possible outcomes for our children learning in our Catholic community.

The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills with the capacity to develop highly effective relationships with all members of the school community and with our partners in educations and other agencies.

When our students were asked what they felt were the most important qualities they wanted from their Head Teacher they responded with the following:

They felt it was important that the person was caring, helpful, kind-hearted, patient, fair and inclusive. They want someone who is funny, intelligent, creative and imaginative and who enjoys sports and music. They would like their Head Teacher to be a good role model to them and felt that this would be shown through them being responsible, organised, inspirational and respectful. They agreed that the person should be committed and determined and should maintain the excellent reputation of St Patrick’s School.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and actively encouraged and can be arranged by contacting Mrs B Jessop, Clerk to the Governors, at the school; 01706 648089.

An application pack is available on the Trust Website or the school website.

Your completed electronic application form should be returned to head.recruitment@rochdale.gov.uk
