Job overview

The Governors and children of Heybrook Primary School are looking for a new Headteacher who is able to start in September 2019.

Heybrook Primary sits in the heart of a diverse community in Rochdale. We serve an area where there is challenge, yet hope; where our communities are evolving, yet there is strength; and where there is opportunity for our children through the significant regeneration in the town, supportive community groups and the strong collaboration between the primary schools.

As one of the largest primary schools in the authority, with three forms of entry and provision from two to 11 years old, this is a unique opportunity for an experienced leader who can help us to build on our successes and to develop Heybrook as a leading school for the borough.

We are looking for a leader who:

  • Is committed to overcoming inequity;
  • Is able to lead learning through complex times;
  • Sees the importance of professional learning so our staff develop and grow;
  • Values the need for community cohesion and the role of parents;
  • Believes in the power of professional collaboration so that all our children have access to an excellent curriculum and excellent teaching and support staff who can deliver our ambitions;
  • Is committed to developing their role as a system leader.

Rochdale has undergone a transformation in terms of safeguarding, collaboration and opportunity over the last couple of years and it is an exciting and innovative place to work. The surrounding areas are stunning with many areas of local beauty. It is also well served through its proximity to the M62 and M60 network and the investment in public transport. Heybrook Primary has been a leader in driving transformation at primary level and we have been adaptable to the needs of the community and the changes within the town.

We have strong, sustainable relationships through our work in the IPLCN Primary Collaborative and highly effective links with our local secondary schools. We are looking for a leader who can bring their experience, their creativity, their commitment, their aspirations and their drive to guide us through the next stages of our development: a leader who sees the value in developing a strong academic foundation which complements the nurturing and cherishing of our children, staff and community.
