Al-Khair Preparatory School, Oldbury, is dedicated to helping its students achieve excellence in education within a stimulating, caring and secure Islamic environment.

The school opened its doors to pupils in September 2014 and strongly complements Al-Khair Preparatory and Al-Khair Secondary Schools based in Croydon which have all evolved into fully self-sufficient independent schools. 

The core objective of the school is that of providing our students with a holistic education which allows them to lead confident, healthy and responsible lives as individuals and members of society.

The Headteacher of Al-Khair Preparatory School, Oldbury, will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at the school and will report directly to the proprietor and quasi Board of Governors. The primary focus areas will witness the successful candidate leading on the strategic direction of the school and managing all aspects of the school’s day to day management, including curriculum, recruitment and selection of personnel, discipline, compliance, finance and premises.

In addition to the above, the post holder will be required to lead on the management of all macro matters with a view to securing the school’s position as a centre of academic excellence, where the development of the whole child is paramount and to also promote and safeguard the welfare of children attending.

The key responsibilities of this role, will be to effectively lead and manage the school to ensure the achievement of excellent educational standards, to create and develop an ethos which enables secure and effective teaching and progress for all students irrespective of their background, abilities and aptitudes, to develop a strategic plan for the school in consultation with staff, parents, pupils and members of the quasi Board of Governors which speaks to the direction of the school for the next 2-3 years, to provide leadership which will inspire, motivate, challenge and support all staff employed by the school, to ensure that the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum are met, to lead on the design and implementation of a curriculum which inspires and engages all pupils, to monitor the effectiveness of the curriculum and seek areas for improvement, to ensure that the school’s systems and processes are  fit for purpose and to deploy resources effectively and efficiently in order to achieve the aims and objectives set out in the School Development Plan.

For this role you will need a degree level qualification or its equivalent.  You will also be the holder of qualified teacher’s status in the UK. Demonstrable experience of occupying a similar role. Good IT skills with the ability to understand intelligent use of IT within the office environment along with good communication skills, written and verbal.
