Court Fields SchoolWellington, Somerset

Do you have ambition for every child? The Castle Partnership Trust seeks an inspirational, strategic Headteacher with a proven record of impact and success to join us to lead COURT FIELDS SCHOOL from either Easter or September 2021. You will be ambitious for every child to achieve his or her full potential, to have a strong sense of belonging and community, and to participate in learning and enrichment. You will build on the school’s success and ensure that the next Ofsted judgment is GOOD. To achieve this, you will continue the drive for improvement in the quality of Teaching and Learning, in standards, achievements and to raise the ambitions of all its students.

About Court Fields School

Court Fields School became part of The Castle Partnership Trust in 2014, and has 775 students aged 11-16. It is a happy and friendly school with a highly supportive ethos. Students are proud of their school and exceptionally courteous; you never have to open a door for yourself and this reflects upon the good relationships and positive attitude between staff and students. The pastoral system is excellent and children enjoy being in school. There is excellent support in the community and many local organisations support the school in a variety of ways, such as offering work placements, enrichment opportunities and occasionally sponsorship.   It is the case that Court Fields has an RI judgment and governors are realistic and honest about why that judgment was made. Governors have a high level of skill and provide exceptional support for the school, fully understanding their role of critical friend. Since then, there have been significant improvements and we are looking for an inspirational Headteacher to ensure that we secure the Good judgment that the children deserve.

The Trust’s aims are that Every Child Achieves, Every Child Belongs, and Every Child Participates in learning, enrichment and the community. These are held strongly at Court Fields and there is a commitment amongst staff and the community to these ambitions. The priority for Court Fields now is to consolidate and improve the consistency of the quality of Teaching and Learning, and ensuring that every lesson, every subject, every day is at least Good so that children make good progress and achieve their potential.

We are now seeking a new Headteacher who can ensure the school continues to move forward in these aims. We welcome applications from serving Headteachers and Deputy Heads.

About the Trust

As the Headteacher of Court Fields School, you will be part of The Castle Partnership Trust. We are small but perfectly formed, currently with two secondaries and two primaries. There is a highly collaborative and supportive partnership between our Headteachers supported by the CEO, who was a serving Headteacher herself until December. We are committed to Headteachers’ autonomy for their own schools, using the group to problem-solve and share best practice, and make key strategic decisions together. It is highly consultative and supportive. We have a very good and thoroughly enjoyable working relationship. The Trust is exceptionally supportive, with a core of excellent directors who have long service as governors and who understand and appreciate the work of schools, and challenge is welcomed. We work to create strong governance that is able to be a good critical friend.

Living and Working in Somerset

Somerset is a beautiful county. It is full of pretty villages and bustling market towns. It sits perfectly between Exeter and Bristol, and between the Blackdown Hills, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Exmoor. Beaches and the South-West coast path are within easy reach. Wellington itself is a thriving market town with superb connections to other parts of the UK and Bristol airport is an easy drive.

This is a perfect place to bring up children, walk dogs on the beaches, coasts, moors, and to experience great outdoor pursuits. Exeter and Bristol are within easy reach with a great offer of shopping and entertainment (in less challenging times of course).

The closing date for applications is 9:00am on Friday 29th January 2021 with interviews due to be held on 9th and 11th February 2021.

During this time of national lockdown, we fully appreciate that any interviews will be initially through TEAMs. However, we do intend, unless this becomes impossible, to arrange some way of meeting final candidates and to enable them to look around the school before making a final commitment to the post. Any activities within the school will be fully risk assessed and appropriate safe distancing will be assured.

For application packs and more information about The Castle Partnership Trust, please visit Candidates who wish to arrange a discussion regarding the position are encouraged to contact Julie Gregory, Trust CEO's PA, on 01823 274073.

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to receiving your application.
