Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational Teacher of Health and Social Care and A level Sociology to join our Academy. You will play a significant part in maintaining the high standards already set but also help develop the learning area. We are looking for a high performing professional who can bring passion and enthusiasm to the teaching of these popular subjects. You will need to teach Health and Social Care Level 2/3 as well as Sociology A level.

The Marine Academy Plymouth is not your average kind of academy. The Academy is sponsored by the University of Plymouth, with its world class marine science reputation, along with co-sponsors Cornwall College and Plymouth City Council. The Academy opened in September 2010 on the existing site of Tamarside Community College, but has undergone a major building re-development which now offers state-of-the art facilities.

The aim is to transform education for Plymouth in general and for the school’s community and locality in particular. This will be achieved through a commitment to foundational academic achievement combined with the development of enterprise skills, communication skills and entrepreneurialism, all using environmental and marine themes and the multiple environments in the South West of tourism, leisure, recreation and maritime engineering.
