Higher Education and Employability Advisor – (Full Time, Term Time + 7 additional days to be agreed) 

Working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm, plus some evening work is required. Working for 39 weeks per year term time + 7 additional days to be agreed, a degree of flexibility is required. 

  • To assist in providing outstanding provision of Careers and HE guidance for students and prospective students.
  • To keep records of careers education and HE guidance activity and contribute to statistical returns on destinations and progression.

We are looking for a candidate who ideally has: 

  • Experience of working in FE, especially in a sixth form college with knowledge of the academic progression routes and constraints experienced by our students.
  • Experience of leading group sessions with excellent communication, presentation skills.

Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Pay Spine point 20, £15,793 rising to point 23, £17,037 with annual increments based on service and performance related criteria.   (This is the pro-rated equivalent of the full-time scale, £17,700 - £19,094

Luton Sixth Form College is a specialist Sixth Form College, providing academic and general vocational education for 16 to 18 year olds in Luton.

Established in September 1966, we are the oldest Sixth Form College in the country and have an enviable reputation for quality and excellence. We are also one of the largest, with more than 2,800 students taking a vast array of A Level and BTEC courses.

Our mission is to provide an outstanding education for young people at the College, and to work with other local providers to ensure that there are opportunities for all young people in Luton to succeed and progress.

The College is located in a quiet residential area in the north of Luton, with easy access from the town centre, A505, A6 and M1. Our site was redeveloped between 2008 and 2010 and the original grammar school buildings were replaced by a £56m campus offering state-of-the-art facilities and modern resources for staff and students.
