Stocksbridge High School is part of Minerva Learning Trust and together we have a vision of providing outstanding education for all the students within our schools.  The Trust is passionate that all students should see their time at school as happy and fulfilling with their potential developed to the utmost.  

We are looking to recruit a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to help targeted students to further develop their standards of reading, writing, speaking and communication. This post is funded through the Government’s Catch Up Premium and is therefore temporary until August 2021 in the first instance.

The successful candidate will:

• Have experience of working with students in whole class learning environments or small group sessions

• Support the literacy development of our students: including oracy and social communication so that they may catch up the lost learning and development caused by lockdown and any further Covid related restrictions to schooling

• Actively promote a love of reading

• Work with individual, small groups and classes of students from across the school to develop both literacy skill and a love of literature

• Enable students to become critical thinkers and enthusiastic readers for life

• Confidently use assessment data to identify, track and report on student progress

• Develop the use of the school’s library to become a welcoming and stimulating learning environment

• Be self-motivated and have the ambition to develop with the support from the school and wider trust

The closing date is Thursday 5th November 2020 and interviews will take place week commencing 9th November 2020.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.  The successful candidate will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
