Monkton is seeking to appoint a full-time trainee teacher of History from September 2019 on a one year fixed term contract.
The successful applicant will share our vision for fostering a love of lifelong learning, both for students and teachers. He or she will be passionate about delivering an excellent holistic education and have a commitment to individuals, seeing this as the basis for students to flourish. He or she will see education as lighting fires rather than filling pails, and appreciate the contribution that co-curricular activities make to the learning process, as well as the vital part that a proactive pastoral approach plays in a student’s development. A willingness to work collaboratively, and get fully and energetically involved in the co-curricular and pastoral life of the School would be vital.
Training would be delivered by both the highly experienced staff at Monkton and the course mentors on the iPGCE course at the University of Buckingham. The successful applicant would be responsible for applying to the University of Buckingham, and the training costs would be paid for by the School and deducted from the successful applicant’s salary. The salary offered is in accordance with the Monkton Combe Teaching Staff Salary Scale and allowances.
In addition to teaching an academic timetable (with appropriate reduction for training), all full-time staff at Monkton are involved with two terms of sport (or equivalent - e.g. CCF, drama, community service), have a tutor group, supervise evening prep once a week in a boarding house, and run a co-curricular activity.
