Working Pattern: 37 hours per week, Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 16.30pm;  Friday 8.30am – 16.00pm Term Time plus 5 weeks in the holidays

Arbour Vale School is a special school in Slough for pupils aged 2 to 19 with a wide range of educational needs. With over 300 pupils on roll, it is one of the largest special schools in the country and meets the needs of children and young people with moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties with profound and multiple needs as well pupils with autism.

The school is purpose built with specialist facilities including a dedicated nursery and post-16 base, soft-play area, hydrotherapy pool, multi-sensory room, a newly refurbished library, well-equipped IT suite, dedicated music room and large sports hall.

The Postholder, supporting the work of the Assistant Principal (SENDCo) and Assistant Principal Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), will support the coordination of internal Services responding to and providing proactive support to families. Through early intervention, the postholder will work directly with families and/or our vulnerable young people. The postholder will seek to engage and work collaboratively with a range of external support agencies. In addition, the Postholder will support the work of the DSL and Attendance Officer to monitor attendance and ensure appropriate work/resources are made available.

The specific responsibilities of this post require a flexible approach to working hours during term time and holiday periods. A minimum of 6 hours per day core time is expected during term time. 

There will be a requirement to undertake home visits at times to suit parents within lone working guidelines. Availability as the first point of contact (‘on-call’) in responding to vulnerable children/families in need during holiday times will be agreed through line management.
