Home School Link Worker

We are a Humanities Specialist College which became an all through school in September 2012. We achieved IIP Gold in December 2013.

We moved to new landmark buildings that provide everyone with state of the art facilities for learning, teaching and training. As part of the exciting growth plans for the School, we are expanding our team to meet future requirements. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Home School Link Worker. This is a full time 36.5 hours per week position.

The Home School Link Worker will work preventatively with families, children and the school to provide early intervention, signposting support and guidance in times of change and stress, thus enabling improved attendance and behaviour by reducing family and environmental barriers to learning.  Applicants must have:

• Knowledge of child development

• An insight into the needs of young children and their parents

• A working knowledge and understanding of the Children’s Act 1989, particularly in relation to Child Protection

• A working knowledge of the Assesment Framework and Human Rights Legislation

• An understanding of ‘Every Child Matters; Children Act; National Occupational Standards on Working with Parents

• Good knowledge of the school system

The Home School Link Worker must be able to communicate confidently and build effective relationships with pupils, parents and other professionals as required.  A background in either Health, Social Care and or extensive experience of working with parents and families would be very beneficial. 

All applicants must be numerate and literate and educated to GCSE standard.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
