Human Resources Officer – September 2017

37 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks) plus 5 additional days

​Salary Range: NJC Scale 5: Points 22 – 25: £20,456 to £22,434  per annum, pro rata (actual starting salary £16,950 to 18,589)

Varndean School requires an enthusiastic, committed and experienced Human Resources Officer to join our busy administration and finance team. Excellent all-round HR skills and attention to details are a prerequisite, along with a flexible attitude and willingness to be part of school life. Previous experience of managing recruitment, HR and payroll systems, particularly in the education sector, would be a distinct advantage. 

Varndean School is a Good school (Ofsted 2013) and has specialist status in Technology, Music and Applied Learning. The HR, Payroll & Finance Dept is at the heart of the school and you would be working closely with the Director of Finance & Operations to ensure the smooth operation of the HR & Payroll functions.

Varndean School has a proud history. It has undergone many changes to bring it to where it is now; starting life in the centre of Brighton in 1884 and moving to its current site in 1926. Since then the school has evolved into a vibrant and diverse co-education comprehensive school with a population of over 1400 students and nearly 200 staff which represents the local community it serves.
