St Margaret Mary's College is a Townsville Girls Catholic High School, founded as in 1963 by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan.  The College accepts enrolments from girls Years 7 to 12, and offers a wide variety of subjects and vocational programs. What we are looking for

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Humanities/Drama Teacher to teach the combination to Junior Secondary (7-10) for Semester 2 (Term 3 and 4).  


The successful applicant will have a thorough knowledge of the curriculum with an informed pedagogy.


The Role:

The Humanities and Drama Teacher is responsible to the Principal through the relevant members of the College Leadership Team and the Faculty Leader


  • For the development and implementation for the designated areas of curriculum;
  • For the students, fellow employees and his/her health, safety and welfare;
  • For the maintenance any place or equipment designated or chosen for specific activities.


Responsibilities and teaching standards are aligned with the National Professional Standards commensurate with that of a Proficient Teacher.

About St Margaret Mary’s College

St Margaret Mary’s College is an all girls’ Catholic secondary school catering for students from Year 7 through to Year 12. The school is centrally located in Townsville, Queensland. There are approximately 735 students enrolled at the school. 

The school was established in 1963 by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan of the Order of St Benedict. The daily life of the College is enhanced by living the Benedictine Values and being centred on Jesus Christ. The school has strong connections with the local Parish and the Townsville Diocese.

St Margaret Mary’s College facilities include a library, textile room, chapel, computer rooms and a multipurpose sports facility.

Curriculum

Students in Year 7 to Year 10 study a broad range of subjects incorporating the nine Key Learning Areas including: Science, English, Mathematics, Business, Civics and Citizenship, Technology, Language, Religious Education and Physical Education. In Years 11 and 12 students are challenged to take responsibility for their own learning by becoming self-motivated and self-disciplined learners. The school caters for a wide range of students need, from tertiary entrance to training and vocational education. Extra-curricular activities include sports, equestrian, cross-cross country, vocal ensemble (Bella Voce), public speaking and debating, Campus Ministry and community service opportunities.
