IB Diploma Programme Coordinator

St. Dominic's international School, PortugalPortugal

Our school

St Dominic’s International School (SDIS), Portugal, is a very well-established international school with a diverse student body made up of more than 50 different nationalities.  Our mission is to “nurture and educate international minds”.  We are a fully inclusive school and we are committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for all our students.

SDIS is located in the sunny, seaside Cascais municipality.  We are a warm, friendly school and new staff always comment on two main attributes of the school: lovely students and supportive teachers.

We are an IB Continuum World School offering three IB programmes: PYP, MYP and DP, since 1997.   We are accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and are a member of the European Council of International Schools and the Council of International Schools.

For further information about our school, please visit our website www.dominics-int.org.

The position

We are inviting applications of interest for the position of IB Diploma Programme Coordinator to start in August 2021.   We have been offering the DP since 1995 and, as such, the programme is well-established in the school with both staff and students having a good understanding of the programme.  However, we are looking for some “fresh eyes” to review and revitalise teaching, learning and assessment in the DP, and to open up our thinking about possibilities within the programme.

The application process

Applications for the position are now open now and will close on 22nd January.  Please send your application, titled IB Diploma Programme Coordinator, to recruitment@dominics-int.org.  Your application should include the following:

• Your current CV

• Your response in up to 800 words to the following:

We are shaping the world faster than we can change ourselves, and applying to the present the habits of the past. – Winston Churchill

a) Is this quote still relevant in 2021?

b) From the description of our position above, suggest how you would make sure the habits of the past are not applied to the Diploma Programme?

Interviews for shortlisted candidates will start on 1st February.  The interview process will be as follows:

• First interview with Head of Senior School and Human Resources Manager

• Final interview with School Principal and a member of the Board of Governors
